Lombard loans on the Copenhagen.
Private credit against Nasdaq Copenhagen-listed shares — pledged, not sold.
A Lombard loan against Copenhagen-listed shares is credit secured by a pledge of equity listed on the Nasdaq Copenhagen. The holder pledges the shares, draws cash against a fraction of their market value, retains ownership and dividends subject to structuring, and recovers the position on repayment.
- Facilities are arranged against equity listed on the Nasdaq Copenhagen (Nasdaq Copenhagen), Copenhagen.
- The pledge preserves ownership, dividends, and the upside for the holder.
- Loan-to-value is set per line; funded in DKK or cross-currency.
- Structured under Finanstilsynet, with disclosure from 5%.
The venue
Historically the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. Distinctively concentrated in pharmaceutical and shipping issuers; Novo Nordisk's weight in the OMXC25 shapes its single-stock liquidity profile.
Regulator and disclosure
The Nasdaq Copenhagen operates under Finanstilsynet (Danish FSA) (Finanstilsynet). Capital Markets Act Section 38: voting-rights notifications required at 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 50%, 66.67%, 90%. A pledge over a substantial line is arranged with that reporting regime in view, so that the facility is both discreet and compliant, and so that positions near a control or takeover threshold are not disturbed.
Structuring a facility here
Lombard facilities against Copenhagen-listed shares are typically arranged for a tenor of twelve to thirty-six months, funded in DKK or another currency on a cross-currency basis, with the collateral held by a qualified custodian under bankruptcy-remote arrangements. Non-recourse, limited-recourse, and full-recourse structures are available; the choice interacts with the loan-to-value and the spread.

Liquidity and the index
Copenhagen, on the Nasdaq Nordic platform, is distinctively concentrated in pharmaceuticals and shipping, and one dominant pharmaceutical issuer carries an outsized weight in the OMXC25. That single name trades with great depth, which for a Lombard loan means we can advance comfortably against a holding in it; elsewhere in the index the picture is more mixed. Across the Mid and Small Cap tiers and First North, liquidity thins, so we lower the advance rate and size the facility to what could be realised in an orderly way over several sessions rather than in a single trade.
Structuring notes
Custody sits with the Danish central securities depository, so a Lombard credit is documented locally while the holding remains the client's, dividends and votes retained. The market's concentration in one or two very large issuers is the defining structuring point: where a holding is in a heavily weighted name, liquidity is excellent, but a substantial stake can still sit near the disclosure thresholds, so we draw the facility and any collateral calls to avoid an unintended filing. Documentation follows Danish law on disclosure and takeovers throughout.
